After some long deliberation, numberous discussion and even a pros and cons list (that came out at 50/50), we, as a family, have decided to take the leap and move back home. Back to where the wife and I both grew up. Back to the friendly confines of the Niagara region.
The driving force behind this thinking was without a doubt, Scarlett. We want her to grow up closer to her grandparents. When she was first born, we were a little naiive in thinking that it wouldn't be a problem for them to see her and her to see them with us making trips down and them coming to visit.
Now 8 months have passed and the 5-6 hour drive that seperates us seems to be longer and longer every time. Couple that with the fact that life happens and it can be 2-3 month in between visits, and we have a baby that is growing rapidly and grandparents that are missing it all.
The timing is also right.
The wife is still on maternity leave and after recently graduating, is also looking for a career change coming out of it. Scarlett is not in School and doesn't have any friends to leave that would devistate her, as it would in the future. We also don't own a house that needs to be sold.
So aside from devistatingly leaving our great friends and me needing to find a new job, it just seems as though the timing will never be better to make the move.
We have both started applying feverishly for postings and await call-backs.
Many details to follow regarding this big change.
